The Dresden Connection

Capella Sine Nomine and the Baroque orchestra ConcertoValiante are joining forces. Together they will present the program “The Dresden Connection,” featuring music by Jan Dismas Zelenka, Antonio Lotti, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

In the 18th century, Dresden was a vibrant musical center, where composers from all over Europe found their way to the court of the Electors of Saxony. These included the Italian Antonio Lotti, the Bohemian composer and Lotti’s student Jan Dismas Zelenka, and the renowned Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

This concert demonstrates how composers from different countries and traditions drew inspiration from each other. Their music has endured through the centuries: what once sounded in the court church of Dresden now resonates on a Sunday afternoon in The Hague and Oegstgeest.

Concert dates:

Sunday, October 19 – 3:30 PM – O.L.V. Hemelvaartkerk, The Hague (Maria van Eik en Duinen)

Sunday, October 26 – 3:30 PM – Church of St. Willibrord, Oegstgeest
