Also the Adagio from oboe concerto by A Marcello, from the opera Serse HWV 40 by G. F. Händel, and the oboe concerto by J.W. Hertel

is “Ich habe genug” by J.S. Bach. This cantata stands out as one of the most famous and masterful solo cantatas for bass, with an extraordinary beauty that is emphasized by a prominent oboe solo throughout the piece. It expresses the feeling of saying goodbye to the trials of this world and the journey to the sweet realm of death – eternal rest – through the redemption of Christ.

For Yuichi Sakai-Lelieveld this cantata has a special meaning because the story of Simeon teaches that true happiness does not come from material wealth, but from the fulfillment of the soul.

The ode to the purification of the oratorio by A. Scarlatti is also performed. The recitative Tempo “Con l’ali al piede” and the Aria Time “Pretende invano” solemnly and majestically announce the role of Time and tell about his own virtues.

The warm sounds of Alessandro Marcello’s oboe concerto are performed by Caitlin Benz in the leading role together with the baroque ensemble ConcertoValiante. Oboist Caitlin Benz and harpsichordist Leonardo Valiante, together with the ensemble, will proudly and with dazzling sounds perform the 6th concerto in G major by J.W. Hertel in the Empfindsamer style.
